Serving Latah County, Idaho

Supporting Our Community's First Responders

Every call answered, every life protected. We fund the equipment and training that keep Deary's volunteer firefighters and EMTs ready when seconds matter.

Our Mission

To stand behind the volunteers who stand between our community and disaster — ensuring they have every tool, every training hour, and every resource they need to come home safely.

The Deary Fire & EMS Foundation exists because rural emergency services run on something most people never see: the quiet dedication of neighbors who drop everything when a pager goes off at 2 a.m. Our volunteer firefighters and EMTs answer calls across hundreds of square miles of forest, farmland, and back roads. They respond to wildfires, vehicle accidents, cardiac emergencies, and structure fires — often as the only help available for many critical minutes.

Modern emergency response demands modern equipment, ongoing certification, and continuous training. State and local funding rarely covers the full cost of staying mission-ready. That gap is where we step in.

When the alarm sounds, our responders cannot afford to hesitate — and neither can we.

Through community-driven fundraising, grant support, and direct donor giving, the Foundation purchases life-saving gear, sponsors advanced certifications, and underwrites the educational outreach that prevents emergencies before they happen. Every dollar raised stays local. Every contribution goes toward strengthening the safety net that protects Deary, Bovill, Helmer, and the surrounding communities of Latah County.

We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, governed by community members and accountable to the donors and responders we serve. Our work is simple in purpose and serious in stakes: making sure that when our neighbors need help, help is fully prepared to arrive.
